The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDot) recently unveiled their 2024 Unified Transportation Plan (UTP). The UTP is a ten-year plan that TxDot uses to guide spending and development of transportation projects throughout Texas.

With the new UTP guidelines, north Texas counties will see the dedication of over $29 Billion invested by TxDot for updated transportation projects. TxDOT expects the following construction dollars to be available for distribution over the next 10 years:

Collin County – $9,220,185,679

Cooke County – $710,864,875

Dallas County – $10,849,693,349

Denton County – $5,965,230,255

Grayson County – $1,708,005,788

Hunt County – $1,282,250,211

While these counties will flourish as a result of transportation projects, it will come with a cost. Many homeowners and landowners will face some level of a “taking,” wherein the County or State will need to acquire some or all of their land to complete these projects.

As these projects progress, it is vital to stay informed. Consult an experienced attorney with Sewell Sewell Beard, LLC today to help guide and assist you through the complexities of condemnation and eminent domain to ensure that you are protected.
